Across Wyoming, plenty of good businesses never get off the ground because the money and support to start is just out of reach. We offer microloans, from $500 to $50,000, and we look at the whole person, not just a credit score. But the loan is only the start. Borrow from us and you're a client for life, with your own business counselor and access to professionals most small businesses can't afford to hire. And you don't need a loan to be part of it. Our Education and Women’s Business Center are open to anyone ready to build something.

The Beginning

A group of women gathered at the Civic Center in Laramie with a simple idea: find ways to earn income from their crafts and baking without leaving home. What began as a community conversation grew into something bigger than any of them expected.
From those early meetings, the organization found a home under the Wyoming SBDC, operating as a program before earning its footing as something entirely its own. In 1999, the team wrote their first grant through the SBA Office of Women's Business Ownership and became an independent 501(c)3 — the Wyoming Women's Business Center was official.
Over the years, the work expanded. They became an SBA Microlender, extending small loans to entrepreneurs across the state. They launched additional programs, including Works of Wyoming — a beloved chapter of the organization's story that has since been passed into the capable hands of a former team member, who continues to carry it forward today.
Now, after more than two decades of serving Wyoming entrepreneurs, the organization is stepping into a name that reflects what it has always truly been: a resource for all of Wyoming, not just one corner of it. WyoMicro.
